About Dignity

Dignity is a visionary Christian organisation that seeks to pioneer change through evangelism and hands-on development projects.

As Christians we believe that Jesus has called us to make a difference to other people’s lives, particularly those forgotten by the developed world and trapped in an endless cycle of poverty, hardship and suffering.

Dignity’s goal is for the Church to be the agent of change. Our predominant focus is to transform extremely poor communities in rural Africa by building sustainable, long-term projects in partnership with local organisations.

Our success so far has been combining evangelistic and practical initiatives that demonstrate our holistic concern for a community, as well as an individual’s spiritual and physical needs.

These initiatives include a clinic, clean water projects and leadership training for the Church and the wider community.

Our philosophy is not to pity an individual, but to empower them, not to look down on them but to make long lasting friendships that will give us all the Dignity God intends.

Organisation

Dignity is primarily a volunteer organisation that pools the skills and resources of a wide range of people in order to see holistic, sustainable bottom up change in some of the most rural communities on our planet.

The Board

Dignity"s board are all committed Christians. They are also senior business people whose real world experience running large organizations gives Dignity a solid foundation, and an invaluable source of advice.

The Board Members are:

Keith Nelson
Paul Nattrass Francis Hesketh
Jon Paul Witt

Jon Paul Witt is married with 3 Children and lives in Manchester, UK. He is an Evangelist and leader of Dignity, an organisation that seeks to pioneer initiatives in evangelism and social change, predominantly in Africa. His passion is to see a strong Church and to see people impacted by it. He believes that the power of Jesus working through people is what every community and every person needs. Jon has a background in Computer Science and IT and also has an MA in Theology. He spends his time engaged in the work of Dignity, both in the UK and abroad. You can read his blog at www.jonpaulwitt.com

Keith and Kate Nelson moved to Manchester about eighteen years ago. During that time they ran the youth work for 11-14 year olds for 6 years and have helped to run home groups at their local church. At present Keith is supporting Jon Witt as he sets up Dignity (a charity focused on promoting the gospel overseas) and has been co-opted onto the finance team. They have three children who are 11, 8 and 8 (yep twins).

To pass the time of day Keith is a Group Commercial Controller for a leading home shopping company based in Manchester. With what little time is left he likes tennis, walking, drinking beer (or wine), good food and fast cars.

Dignity is run on a day-to-day basis by Nick Tissot and Abenaa Asante-Siaw.
