We have developed three new training modules to go with the ‘Love Your Village’ course book to be used when we introduce this resource to people.These modules cover the following: 1. Why use ‘Love Your Village’ 2. What is ‘Love Your Village’ 3. How to run ‘Love Your Village’ group We are planning to use our main source of written material (‘Rooted in Jesus’) in conjunction with ‘Love Your Village’. ‘Rooted in Jesus’ is a fantastic resource and has aided many Life! groups to grow in their faith; alongside this, we believe that ‘Love Your Village’ will act as a catalyst to cause their faith to turn into actions. There have been two recent examples of practical implementations of faith in Musonda Falls. Every month one group meets to fix roofs within their village. Typically the elderly, people suffering with HIV/AID’s or other illnesses, cannot physically fix or find the means to make the repairs needed even on very basic accommodation. The Life! Group in question visits these people and helps them in a small very practical way using local resources and skills. Jesus said that to give someone a cup of water in his name was effective, maybe repairing someone’s roof is as well! The second activity is one that we have come across before, which is to grow foodstuffs for sale to support children’s education. Often in Zambia, schools exist, but the education is not free. Fees must be paid, uniforms and textbooks purchased even by the poorest members of a community as they are not provided by the state. This makes education, although technically available, almost impossible for many. This group has donated money raised to children’s families, so they can be educated.
