Mibila Village Clinic

One of our first activities in Zambia was to parter with Pastor Barry Ilunga who heads up a ministry called WOTA (World Outreach Teams in Action) to help with the building of Mibila Village Clinic.

In 2004 Pastor Ilunga first took us to the rural village of Mibila in the Copperbelt region of Zambia. We had arranged for a borehole to be dug there to supply the village with a fresh and reliable water source. This was done in partnership with local charity Wilmslow Wells for Africa and has seen a marked decrease in the number of stomach problems and water borne illnesses amongst the community members.

Following that first visit in 2005 Dignity, with WOTA helped to build a clinic in Mibila Village. You can watch some footage of the construction of the clinic here

The clinic was opened in Nov 2006 and currently has over 1600 patients with approximately 50 new registrations every week. With a water supply and a clinic the future of Mibila is slowly being transformed. Formerly a forgotten community no one knew the people there existed they weren’t even registered to vote in national elections. Now Mibila is turning into an ‘up and coming’ place to be!

Slowly but surely the fortunes of the people in Mibila are changing.
