Roger & Jean’s Story

We lived in Uganda for 13 years, initially working at a centre for HIV/AIDS as Director of Resources and in various administrative roles, then with Pioneers International as Area Leaders in East Africa, and with Africa Renewal University in Kampala.

It is a privilege to be working now with Dignity’s Mission Pioneers in Uganda, supporting them in their ministries as they seek to expand Life Groups in the country (already numbering around 60 groups) and as they train up and oversee new group leaders, encouraging and enabling them to replicate groups in other remote areas.

“I have seen the Life Groups working, bringing people together, people with different beliefs and different challenges, learning to share with one another which they couldn’t do before, and most importantly, coming to know Jesus Christ.”

“I was so lonely in the village, but after being introduced to the Life Group I learned that working together with other people is a good thing because we share and solve problems together. I have learnt how to share and pray with others in the group and have now got friends and have learnt from others about what pleases God. We have learnt how to use local materials to promote our wellbeing. Domestic violence is now at a low level since introducing our Life Group, and families are working together to educate their children regardless of their gender.”

God is changing lives through Life Groups, and our role is to support, encourage, and pray for our Ugandan brothers and sisters who are His hands and feet where they are called to serve.

We have two married daughters and six grandchildren, and now live in Didsbury, Manchester.
