Mary Jones Walk

"In 1800, after saving money for 6 years, a 15-year-old girl called Mary Jones walked 26 miles from Llanfihangel-y-Pennant to Bala to buy a Bible, a book she'd been longing to own for years. Her journey inspired the establishment of British and Foreign Bible Society."1

A challenge people still face

Dignity works with people who still face barriers to accessing the Bible — whether due to cost, language differences, illiteracy, limited mobility, or simply because printed Bibles are unavailable where they live.

The solution we offer

Despite this challenge, we believe EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE — especially the ‘least’ (Matthew 25:40) — can reach their community and grow God’s presence. Therefore, we work to inspire Life Groups: small Christian communities, open to everyone and living out faith and mission together. We create and translate Bible study materials for Life Groups. In Life Groups people study the Bible together learning verbally and in their own language. They share Jesus' message and meet practical needs across their local communities. You can read stories from Life Groups here.
